Irion Books Launches First Installment of Summit Murder Mystery Series
Phoenix, Ariz., January 11, 2010 – Irion Books today announced the release of Murder on Everest and Abandoned on Everest—the first two books in the Summit Murder Mystery series. Co-authored by Charles G. Irion and Ronald J. Watkins, the series explores murders set at the peaks of each of the highest mountains on the world’s seven continents. The author has visited more than 60 countries and was inspired to pen Murder on Everest after his own 1987 expedition to Everest. Murder on Everest is the newest release from Irion Books, which launched in 2007 with its acclaimed Hell Series.
“Everest is one of the deadliest places on earth,” said Irion. “Murder there would be very, very easy and, in most cases, impossible to detect.”
In an innovative move from the entrepreneur, the publishing house will release a new novel in the series every six months. The third installment in the Summit Murder Mystery series, Murder on Elbrus, will follow in the Summer 2010 and the fourth release, Murder on Mt. McKinley, will debut in Winter 2011.
The author brings his unorthodox worldview to Irion Books. In a maverick literary quirk, Irion and Watkins give the main character, Quentin Stern, author credit on the cover of Abandoned on Everest (the prequel to Murder on Everest). Stern appears in the first book as a tabloid writer who takes liberties with the facts. In the third installment of the Summit Murder Mystery series, Mount Elbrus takes center stage. Europe’s tallest peak, on the border between Russia and Georgia, is in the middle of a war zone.
